As approved by the Borough Council and the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, residents will be able to enter the Borough's property at the corner of Washington & Baltimore Street to enjoy and take photos with the wonderfully decorated holiday display. As a joint project, volunteers from the Borough's Beautification Committee as well as Borough Council members and staff worked diligently over the past several weeks to bring holiday spirit to this corner of the Borough.
The Borough would like to thank the members of the Beautification Committee including Lori Facchina, Cassandra Godbey, Rachel Grimm, Dee Hawbaker, Jan Hirneisen, Karen Metz, and Ann Schnabel for their guidance and hard work creating this space. Additionally the following individuals and organizations donated time, supplies, and contributions to support this project:
- Albert & Debra Miller - donation of the sleighs, building wall structure and materials
- Ron Shafer - assistance with the assembly of the wall
- Larry Faight (Tastykake) - lighting & monetary donation
- Mike & Misty Stenger - wrapped presents & supplies
- Duane Kinzer - use of electric for lighting
- Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce - lanterns & trees
The driving force and vision behind this project came from Councilman Albert Miller who made it his mission to decorate this location in honor of late Councilmember Jan Shafer who passed away in October of this year. Jan envisioned the use of this property as an inviting community space and planned to be apart of the holiday decorating efforts. In honor of Jan, Albert and his family donated the two beautiful sleds used in this holiday display.
The Borough is very proud to be able to open this space during Heritage Christmas as an additional location for residents to take photos and enjoy the festive decorations.
