As snow cleanup continues throughout the Borough, residents are reminded of the responsibility to remove snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their properties, in accordance with Chapter 169, Article I of the Borough Code.

A walkable path at least 30 inches in width must be maintained along sidewalks. Snow and ice are required to be removed within 24 hours after the cessation of snowfall. Where snow or ice cannot be safely removed due to weather conditions, sand or another abrasive material must be applied to make the sidewalk reasonably safe until full removal is possible.

Please note:
• Snow and ice may not be shoveled, plowed, or deposited onto Borough streets or other sidewalks
• Snow and ice may not be placed on or around fire hydrants and must not obstruct access for emergency services

Sidewalk conditions will be monitored beginning today, and enforcement will occur as necessary to address unsafe conditions.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to keep the Borough safe and accessible during the winter weather.
