NOTICE OF CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION TO CREATE AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER IN THE BOROUGH OF GREENCASTLE
Pursuant to Article IV, rule 401 of the rules and regulation of the Civil Service Commission, notice is hereby given that a written examination will be conducted for the purpose of creating an eligibility list from which one or more police officers will be selected to serve in the Borough of Greencastle.
The written examination will be held on Wednesday June 26, 2019 at 1:00p.m. in the meeting room at the Greencastle Borough Office located at 60 N. Washington Street Greencastle, PA 17225.
To qualify for this examination, prospective applicants must be not less than 18 years of age at the date of application; shall have graduated from an accredited high school or possess G.E.D. documentation which is acceptable to the Commission. Prior to Civil Service Testing, all applicants shall have completed the necessary training to make them eligible to take the Act 120 certification examination. Upon an offer of employment by the police department, applicants must then be certified by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission. Each applicant shall be physically, medically, and psychologically fit for the performance of duties as a police officer, of good moral character and licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment. In the case of a foreign born applicant, evidence shall be submitted to the Commission showing said applicant to be a naturalized citizen. Applicants qualifying for the next step in the examination process will be notified.
Application forms for the written examination shall be available at the offices of The Borough of Greencastle, 60 N. Washington Street Greencastle, PA 17225 during normal business hours, 8:30a.m.-7:00p.m. Monday, 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, and 8:30a.m-1:00p.m. Friday.
Completed applications must be returned anytime during these same hours to Lorraine Hohl, Assistant Borough Manager, at these same offices up until 4:30p.m. Thursday June 20, 2019. Please do not return your applications to the Police Department.
