As the Mayor of the Borough of Greencastle, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, I welcome you to our website. The original Town was laid out in 1782 by Revolutionary War Colonel John Allison after receiving some 360 acres from his Father, William Allison. Greencastle was incorporated as a Borough in 1805. Nearly 300 building lots were sold by lotter for eight dollars. In 2026, our nation will celebrate our 250th anniversary. God has richly blessed us as a nation.

Whether Greencastle is your lifelong home or you are coming here for the first time, I encourage you to visit this historic community often. Shop our downtown. Visit the Allison Antrim Museum. Take a stroll through the Jerome R. King Playground or a walk through any of our beautiful neighborhoods. Stop by our Chamber of Commerce office and say hello. Greencastle is a great place to live, work, grow, be educated, and raise a family.

The Triennial Greencastle-Antrim Old Home Week was first held in 1902, is again scheduled for August 2028. A significant number of other community events make Greencastle a wonderful place to live and visit. Many citizens volunteer in the non-profit organizations that make our community strong. Our Borough employees are dedicated to providing high quality services for our citizens and visitors.

We are excited as plans continue for the development of “Town Hall Plaza” at the intersection of East Baltimore and South Washington Streets. What a historic site that will again be the center of community activities. Please contribute to this worthwhile investment by contacting the Greencastle Borough Office at 60 N. Washington Street or by calling 717.597.7143.

We hope you find the information on our web-site useful.

On behalf of the Council and Staff…THANK YOU for visiting.

Sincerely,
Ben Thomas, Jr.
Mayor
Borough of Greencastle
