Due to the hot temperatures, high humidity, and heat index warnings for the next few days, many residents have called our office and the Rescue Hose Company inquiring about whether or not a burn ban is in effect.
Although a burn ban IS NOT currently in place, Greencastle - Antrim Emergency Management Coordinator John Alleman, is advising citizens to use caution and common sense when conducting a controlled burn. Please ensure weather conditions are ideal and safe and please have a water supply close by. Also, if you plan on conducting a sizable controlled burn, please let Franklin County Control know about it (717-264-2813).
A final safety reminder, with the high temperatures, please remember to stay hydrated and spend time in air conditioning and in the shade. Heat exposure can be very dangerous!
