Due to the anticipated winter storm, the Mayor of the Borough of Greencastle has issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency in advance of significant snowfall and high winds expected to impact the Borough beginning late this evening.

This declaration allows the Borough to take necessary emergency actions to protect the health, safety, and welfare of residents and to respond efficiently to storm-related conditions.

Borough Public Works staff is currently pre-salting roadways and will be actively plowing and treating streets throughout the storm and into the overnight hours as conditions require. Please be patient as crews work to keep Borough roads passable and safe.

In the event of power outages, the Rescue Hose Company will serve as a warming station for residents who may need a safe, heated location.

Residents are reminded of the following:
• Eliminate unnecessary travel during the storm if possible
• Avoid park vehicles on Borough streets during plowing operations
• Keep a safe distance from plow trucks and emergency vehicles
• Shovel sidewalks promptly and clear fire hydrants near your property
• Use caution with generators and alternative heat sources to prevent hazards

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our community safe during this winter weather event.
