Friendly reminder for Borough residents with dogs:
Georgia Martin, the State Dog Warden for Franklin County, shared that starting the week of March 16th, Dog Wardens may conduct neighborhood canvassing when they are already in the area responding to calls. While handling an issue nearby, they may check surrounding homes to ensure dogs are properly licensed, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
Dog licenses are about $10 per year, but fines for an unlicensed dog can reach up to $500 per dog. Keeping licenses current not only avoids potential fines, but also helps lost dogs get home faster.
Please take a moment to make sure your dog’s license is up to date.
