In 2025, Borough Council established parking restrictions in Center Square limiting certain spaces to cars only. Trucks, vans, and SUVs are not permitted in the identified spaces (see photo below).
These restricted parking spaces were designated with visibility and pedestrian safety in mind as parking larger vehicles at these locations can create hazards for both drivers and pedestrians walking in the Square.
To support compliance with these existing safety regulations, Council adopted Ordinance 2026-01 earlier this year, which established a $100 fine for repeat violations with each two-hour period a vehicle remains in violation treated as a separate offense. If a truck, van, or SUV parks in a restricted space more than once or for multiple two-hour periods in a single day, each additional violation will result in the $100 fine, preventing repeated misuse of these spaces.
New signage will be installed in Center Square to clearly note these restrictions and the associated fine. This update helps ensure the rules are visible to all motorists and reinforces the Borough’s commitment to safety and the wellbeing of our community.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep our Center Square safe.
