Franklin County Seeking Input for Long-Range Transportation Plan
The Franklin County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is updating its Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and is seeking input from residents, businesses, commuters, and anyone who lives, works, or travels throughout Franklin County.
The Long-Range Transportation Plan serves as the MPO’s blueprint for future transportation improvements and will help identify transportation needs establishing priorities for investments over the next 20 years. Public input will help guide decisions related to roads, bridges, sidewalks, and other transportation improvements throughout the county.
The online survey is interactive and allows residents to identify specific locations where transportation improvements may be needed and share feedback about transportation issues that are important to them.
The survey will remain open through August 31, 2026.
The Borough of Greencastle encourages residents to take a few minutes to share their thoughts on transportation needs, challenges, and areas in Greencastle where improvements may be needed.

Traffic Control Change - New Four-Way Stop at Leitersburg & S. Washington St
PennDOT will be converting the intersection of Leitersburg Street and South Washington Street to a four-way stop within the next 60 days.
This change follows a PennDOT traffic engineering study requested by the Borough to address ongoing public safety concerns at the intersection, including frequent congestion and an increase in accidents. Based on the results of the study, PennDOT determined that a multi-way stop is warranted.
PennDOT will be installing new STOP and STOP AHEAD signage. Additionally, to help motorists adjust to the new traffic control, temporary flashing beacons will be installed for the first 60 days following implementation.
Once the new traffic control is in place, all approaches to the intersection will be required to stop. Please use extra caution when traveling through the area, particularly during the first several weeks after installation.
Water Authority Meeting Cancelled
The Greencastle Area, Franklin County, Water Authority meeting planned for Monday, July 20, 2026, has been cancelled. The next Water Authority meeting will be Monday, August 17, 2026 at 5:30pm.
Public Safety Committee Meeting Notice
The Borough of Greencastle Public Safety Committee will meet on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Borough Hall.
